News CAMCO Tectons for Bremen's Die Glocke Concert Hall
November 2006 - The great conductor Herbert von Karajan called it one of the best concert halls in Europe, and the renowned Bremen concert hall Die Glocke still enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the world. Recently the venue installed a high-quality sound reinforcement system, using CAMCO Tecton amps.

The outstanding acoustics in the building provide the perfect setting for concerts and readings, cabaret, comedy and drama performances, as well as company meetings and congresses.

For the main hall, great importance was attached to installing a high-quality sound reinforcement system. No delay speakers were used in order to respect the character of the hall. Long reverberation times, and the sound spectrum of the chamber itself, presented the greatest planning and implementation challenges. There is a great difference in acoustics when the hall is empty compared to when it's a full house, and that was a feature that had to be taken into account throughout the entire planning and implementation process.

The concept was drawn up by the Isernhagen-based company AMT Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH headed by the chartered engineer Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Giese. Rüdiger Aue and Amptown Sound & Communication from Hamburg were in charge of implentation.

The system uses NEXO GEO S plus NEXO Alpha subs in left and right arrays, driven by four CAMCO Tecton 32.4s, with a NEXO NX-242 controller. The clusters are mounted on a complicated shifting mechanism to allow the speakers to be moved to one side when the system is not in use, making them more or less invisible and thus maintaining the concert hall atmosphere.

The satisfaction everyone felt after the initial switch-on is expressed by Detlef Jarchow, cheif technician at Glocke Veranstaltungs-GmbH: , . thanks very much for the hard work and commitment you've put in for Die Glocke in Bremen. With this system, we will be able to achieve the high-quality reproduction of music and speech the concert hall requires without any difficulty. The first few times the system has been used, it has been a great success and has really impressed us, the artists and the audiences, too."
